Parenting in This Life as Preparation For the Next One

Today's prompt: http://oneminutewriter.blogspot.com/2008/12/todays-writing-prompt-parents.html

My parents made it very clear that their aim in parenting was to make sure that my sister and I had a better childhood than they did. They gave us every opportunity to be successful in this world and worked tirelessly to that end. However, I strive to be different in one aspect, my definition of success. I do not want my children to measure success in square footage, commas on a paycheck, or the number of times their name appears on a marquee. Instead, I have given them a new definition of success. Success is finding God's purpose for your life and following His direction down that pathway, glorifying Him with every step. My desire is to parent my children in this life with a strong focus on the next one.
